# Passwordless sign-in (from 10 October 2026)

> From 10 October 2026 the Partner Portal signs you in with a passkey or a one-time email link — no password. What changes, and what to do before then.

<Note>
  **This page describes a change taking effect on 10 October 2026.** Until then, password
  sign-in continues to work exactly as it does today. Nothing you do now stops working.
</Note>

## What's changing

From **10 October 2026**, signing in to the Knotie AI Pro Partner Portal no longer uses a
password. You'll enter your **email address** only, and then:

* **If you have a passkey**, the portal offers passkey sign-in — one tap or glance, and
  you're in.
* **If you don't**, we email you a **one-time sign-in link**. Follow it and you're in.

This applies at both `https://knotie-ai.pro` and `https://knotie.ai` — they're the same
login page.

## Why we're doing it

Passwords are the weakest part of most accounts, and everyone now has too many of them. A
passkey is tied to your device and your fingerprint or face, so there's nothing to phish
and nothing to remember. A one-time email link means the only thing standing between
someone and your Knotie account is your email account — which the large email providers
protect far better than a password ever could.

For you, that's one less password to look after. For your account, it's a smaller target.

## What to do before 10 October

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set up a passkey — this is the one we recommend">
    Go to **Settings → Profile Settings → Security**, and set up a passkey. It's the
    fastest sign-in and the strongest protection, and it means you won't need to wait for
    an email to get into your account.

    See the [Passkeys guide](/account/passkeys) for the full walkthrough.
  </Step>

  <Step title="If you can't use a passkey, turn on MFA">
    If your device or browser doesn't support passkeys, enable multi-factor
    authentication from the same **Security** section, using an authenticator app.

    See the [MFA guide](/account/mfa).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check your registered email address is one you can actually reach">
    From 10 October, the sign-in link goes to your registered email address and nowhere
    else. If that address is out of date, update it — or contact support — **before** the
    changeover.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How multi-factor authentication fits in

| Your setup | What signing in looks like from 10 October |
| - | - |
| **Passkey** | Passkey only. A passkey already proves both your device and you. |
| **No passkey** | Follow the one-time email link, and you're in. No extra code. |

<Note>
  **This changed on 30 September.** Our announcement email said you'd still need an
  authenticator code after following a sign-in link. That's no longer the case: the link
  signs you in, just like a passkey. If you have multi-factor authentication (MFA) switched
  on, it stays on your account and still applies wherever a password is used.
</Note>

### Email codes are going away

You can currently receive an MFA code by email. That option is being removed. Once the
sign-in link itself arrives by email, a second code by email isn't really a second
check: anyone who got into your inbox would have both.

<Note>
  **Lost your authenticator app?** You can still get in. Request a sign-in link and it
  takes you straight to your dashboard. Then set up a new authenticator or a passkey from
  **Settings → Profile Settings → Security**.
</Note>

### If your account is connected to Stripe

MFA is strongly recommended for accounts with Stripe Connect, and you'll see a prompt to
set it up. A passkey is the stronger option, so we suggest that first.

<Note>
  Because your sign-in link goes to your email, **your email account's security now
  protects your Knotie account.** If you haven't already, turn on two-step verification
  with your email provider. It's the single most useful thing you can do to keep your
  Knotie account safe.
</Note>

## Common questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Will I be signed out on 10 October?">
    No. If you're already signed in, you stay signed in. The new sign-in applies the next
    time you log in.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How long is the email sign-in link valid?">
    15 minutes, and it works once. If it expires or you've already used it, just request
    another from the login page.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What if the email doesn't arrive?">
    Check your spam folder first, then request another link. If your registered address is
    wrong or you can't reach it, contact support — they can verify who you are and get you
    back in.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I keep using my password?">
    No — password sign-in is being retired for all partner accounts. That's the point of
    the change: a password you can't use is a password that can't be stolen or reused.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does this affect my customers' portal?">
    No. This is about **your** Partner Portal sign-in. Your customers' white-label portal
    already offers sign-in links and is unchanged.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is 'Continue with Google' still available?">
    Yes, where it's enabled for your account. It's already passwordless.
  </Accordion>
